Yohai Pisso, Yafa and Meir Pisso – The Formica Source comapany

The Formica Source company was established in 1978 by the Fisso family, and the company’s founders are the late Yafa and Amram Fisso. The company began its journey as a small store in down-down Haifa in an area of no more than 60 sq. Ft, and it eventually became one of the most influential and leading companies in the business.

Formica Source – How Did the Company Get Started?

The large factory, now spreading on more than 5 acres in the Haifa gulf, began as a small woodworking store in down-town Haifa that was established by the late Yafa and Amram piso, who came to Israel from Morocco in the 1950s.

The couple opened the wood shop in the 1970s and the stores main operation was marketing Formica to the carpentry industry. Meir, Yohai, and Moshe – three of the couple’s children, continued to work in their parents’ business and they made it into what it is today – a factory that employs hundreds of people and operates in several fields – including importation, coating, and marketing of large coated and raw wooden panels.

Meir Fisso, who is now the CEO of the company, got into the family business when he was fresh out of high school. He later joined the IDF, served in” Golani” Unit and was injured in the 1982 Lebanon War. After he was released as an injured army veteran, and following rehabilitation, Meir returned to the family business.

The second son of the family, Yohai piso, is the Deputy CEO of the company, and like his brother, he too began working in the family business as a young man. After completing his IDF service in the Golani Unit, Yochai returned to the business, and as of today, he is in charge of the company’s operation, manufacturing, and importation.

Meir piso and Yohai piso are the driving spirit of the company, and their brother, Moshe, runs the Formica field. Their sister, Ronit, is not a part of the family business, and instead she dedicates her time to promoting the Israeli women’s rights.
